This tranquil area supports a wide range of trees and shrubs protected by a canopy of mature Scot’s pines.
Paths meander past cascades and pools. The natural charm of a woodland garden has been enhanced with open glades. Notable plants include Camellia ‘C.F. Coates’, known as the fish tail camellia due to its forked leaf tips. Rhododendron falconeri, and a fine specimen of the late flowering Rhododendron ‘Polar Bear’. The terraces have recently been replanted with choice “woodlanders” including Podophyllum hexandrum, Impatiens omeiana, Arisaema candidissima and Uvularia grandiflora. A naturally styled children’s play area can be found at the far end of the valley.
